Three simple steps to build a professional Resume in LaTex

Hello! My name is Sohit. Just like most of you, I’ve been through the pressure of applying for jobs and getting multiple rejections. Many factors affect your job application and while you cannot control some things, you can always make sure that your resume is flawless.

In this tutorial, I will walk you through three simple steps to take to build a very professional resume in LaTex. You may ask me a question: Does this even matter? Yes, it does. A professional resume with proper margins, organization, alignment, and structure makes a great first impression on the recruiter.

If you’re looking for help with resume content, you can read my article on writing a tailored resume here.

Follow the steps below to start working on your professional resume:

  1. Download the Resume template here. I’ve built this template to help you guys avoid as much coding as possible! There will be a little bit but I will walk you through it in the video below. If you prefer to download from Github and not Google Drive, you can download it from here.
  2. Make an account on overleaf.com. Overleaf is a great tool for easily editing a LaTex resume without installing any software or packages on your computer. (Please note that I don’t endorse Overleaf in any way and I don’t get paid to mention their name here. You’re welcome to use your own tools to build a LaTex Resume)
  3. Watch this walkthrough video that I’ve recorded to help you understand the basics of building a very professional resume.

The three steps above should help you build your professional resume very quickly! Got any questions? Email me at sohitmiglani1@gmail.com. Connect with me on LinkedIn here.

If you are a professional engineer or an expert in LaTex, you’re welcome to check out the Github Repository of this template here. I welcome any suggestions, improvements or pull requests in the repository.

The Resume Document Style (Released 23 Nov 1989) used in this template was originally built by Michael DeCorte and the copyright notice has been included as part of the template.
